Dear KSQMRC family,
I know Roy spoke at last week's membership meeting about our benefit race
on Sunday, September 19th. If you were not in attendance and did not pick up a sponsorship
form for your driver(s), please pick one up at sign-ins on Tuesday. Your driver
could win $100, $50 or $25 for raising money for this great cause.
I encourage everyone to watch the video of an interview held on The Today Show
a year or so ago with Joshua and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Scoble. At the time,
Josh was 3. It is very informative about this incredibly rare condition, FOP. I
think it will help you understand why we chose this as our benefit race this year.
To find this video, go to www.joshuasfop.com
and click on the link on the left that says "Joshua in the news".
Here is an excerpt from Joshua's website at joshuasfop.com...
Hi, my name is Joshua Scoble and I am four years old. I was diagnosed with Fibrodysplasia
Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) when I was only three months old. FOP is a very rare
inherited connective tissue disorder. Specifically, this disorder causes my body's
skeletal muscles and soft connective tissue to undergo a transformation into bone,
progressively locking my joints in place and making movement difficult or impossible.
There are less than 700 confirmed cases of FOP worldwide.
You can learn more and see our benefit race advertised on this website.
Please take the time to at least watch the video of the Today Show interview.
I promise you will look at life a little differently.
Attached is a copy of the sponsorship form also. Have a wonderful day, hug your
children and count your blessings.
